Salaried GP

Job summary

We are offering an opportunity for a doctor to join our incredibly friendly team, in our purpose-built practice for a Fixed-Term until March 2027. As a training practice we welcome new talent to be part of the vision we have for patient and staff wellbeing, through innovative cluster working, within a bespoke setting. We have a dedicated group of doctors for whom work life balance is crucial and who recognise and value the benefits of working in a friendly and diverse team.

Hours

This position offers up to 6 sessions per week, with flexibility to discuss and tailor the number of sessions to suit your preferences.

Salary

£12,491 per session per annum.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role involve but are not limited to; patient consultations, physical examinations, and the diagnosis and management of various medical conditions. GPs play a pivotal role in chronic disease management, offering ongoing care and coordinating with specialists when necessary.

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion this would include, but not be limited to, responsibility for providing services to the list of patients on the post-holder's list.

  • Supervision of allied health professionals such as Physician Associate, Paramedic, Pharmacist and Nurses.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree.
  • Membership of the Royal College of general Practitioners or equivalent in training if approved by the Royal College of General Practitioners.

  • Registered GP with the GMC (included on the GP Register).
  • Included on GP Performers List.
  • Possesses the right to work in the UK.
  • Certificate of satisfactory immune status re: Hepatitis B and other relevant viruses.
  • Membership of a Medical Defence Organisation (MPS, MDU or MDDUS).

Clinical Pharmacist

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and patient-focused Clinical Pharmacist to join our friendly and supportive team within our purpose-built practice. The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality clinical medication reviews supporting safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines.

The role includes undertaking structured medication reviews, managing polypharmacy, supporting patients with long-term conditions, providing expert medicines advice to clinicians and patients, reconciling medicines following hospital discharge, contributing to medicines safety and clinical governance, and responding to medication-related queries from practice staff and patients.

Hours

This position offers up to 37.5 Hours per week. Flexible Hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks depending on workload and staffing levels.

  • Undertake structured medication reviews and proactively manage polypharmacy to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Support patients with long-term conditions through medication optimisation and evidence-based therapeutic review.
  • Provide dedicated clinical pharmacy support to care homes, including undertaking structured medication reviews for care home residents.
  • Respond to medicines-related queries from care home staff and support safe medicines management within care home settings.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master’s degree in pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent.
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Independent Prescriber qualification.
  • CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway (or working towards completion).

Desirable

  • Postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate qualification/experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Strong clinical and therapeutic knowledge with up-to-date understanding of NICE and relevant national and local guidelines.
  • Experience in medicines optimisation and structured medication reviews.
  • Understanding of general practice and primary care prescribing processes.
  • Ability to manage polypharmacy and long-term condition medication management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
  • Good IT skills and confidence using clinical systems.
